In Just Between Us, (the first in the series) a desolate Kathryn Janeway, having spent four years in the Delta Quadrant, has unwillingly fallen in love, and the barrier a captain must maintain from her crew has left her lonely. The object of her affection, Seven of Nine, pulls down the barricade and forces Janeway to face her feelings, bringing much needed happiness into both their lives. When Seven is injured in an away mission, the captain is devastated and worries that her feelings for the Borg will interfere with her duties to her ship. Will Janeway’s fears destroy their relationship? Gina Dartt knows her characters well. They are fleshed out in such realistic form that sometimes I became confused as to whether a particular plot was from the TV series or one of her stories. Each story stands alone, but I think you’ll enjoy them so much you will want to read through the complete series.
